LIME GREEN
Lime green has been in the background year after year. But 2023 is the year this colour takes centre stage.
The citrus tang of lime green is associated with confidence, creativity and energy. I don't know about you, but this colour screams summer vibes; holidays drinking cocktails and all the fun and joy of vibrant summer nights in the sun.
Team this bold colour with white trousers, a grey skirt or black jeans and you will be bang on trend. Or for those you really want to turn heads, shades of yellow can look amazing with lime green. Just try it and you'll see it definitely has the wow factor.
LILAC
Lilac is one of my favourite colours, however I never actually wear it. It also hold a special
place in my heart as it was my Nan's favourite colour too. Lilac is a tranquil and spiritual colour, and it always takes my mind to a quiet meadow and feeling of absolute calm.
Lilac is associated with youthfulness and innocence (maybe that’s why I don’t wear it).
This gentle colour sits comfortably with grey and white for a classic clean look. But if you are feeling more playful, don some yellow trousers or even orange for an extra bit of spice!
LIGHT BLUE
Light blue is a cool and crisp colour that is associated with tranquillity and trust. It is also a colour that is said to be helpful to increase levels of concentration (maybe a colour I should try).
For some reason this tone of blue makes me think of toothpaste! It's only when I start writing these things down, that I realise just how strange I am. Anyone else think of toothpaste?
I love light blue next to an intensely dark navy, but it also teams really well with pale pink or lilac for a cute and youthful look.
METALLICS
Metallic fabric have a colour that resembles a polished metal. It often has a silver or gold base with a bright pearlescent shine, meaning that its appearance changes in different lights and at different angles.
Metallic fabrics represents power, success and abundant energy.
Now, I’m not a fan of the metallic look on me (as I sit here head to toe in black) but, seeing others in it just makes me happy.
These days any colour you want can be found in a metallic finish. So it's just a case of choosing your favourite colours, letting go and shining your way through summer.
MY WILD CARD IS YELLOW
Even though yellow is not on the top four colours for summer 2023, nobody can deny its happy and cheerful persona.
Yellow just shouts positivity and makes me think about daffodils the beginning of spring and new life.
When it comes to colour combinations, my all time favourite is bright yellow and electric blue. They look utterly DELICIOUS together. However, if that's just too out there for you, yellow is also great with black, tan and crisp white.
TOP TIP FOR SUMMER 2023
Pattern, pattern...everywhere! Don’t be afraid to mix patterns this year.
Two bold prints can look amazing together. You can try teaming leopard print and paisley. They actually really complement each other. And another combo you won't believe until you see it, is tie dye and stripes.
Remember patterns don’t always have to match. So go out this summer and enjoy wearing whatever the hell you like.
